Karpathos, a mountainous and inaccessible island with wonderful landscapes, is one of the most authentic places in Greece. It has endless sandy beaches to the south and secluded coves with emerald waters to the north.
The southern and most developed part of the island is popular with surfers while the northern one keeps the local customs alive, especially in the enchanting village of Olympus which is perched on a saddle between two mountains and two seas. North of Karpathos is the uninhabited island of Saria, with old rural settlements and impressive ruins of medieval houses in the bay of Palatia.
This new detailed map of the Ascent suggests 12 hiking trails in northern Karpathos and Sharia and 6 in the south as well as presents the most important sights of the island.
