Description

Topics of Modern Greek History C Lyceum

The independent modern Greek state began its historical course in 1830, after a decade of hard struggles, great disasters and human losses. The consolidation of order, even the rudimentary state function and the beginning of reconstruction and economic development have their starting point in 1833, after the establishment of the Bavarian dynasty in Greece. The problem facing the country was not only repairing the damage that years of war and anarchy had caused. Almost all the structures and functions of society, especially in the economic area, were obsolete and were in complete disparity with the advances that the states of Western Europe had already achieved in this field. These states were already experiencing the industrial revolution and the transformation of their productive and economic forces. Greece was still in the East, where industry was unknown, transport was carried out by primitive means and cultivation was done by methods that were known - most of them - from the time of Hesiod.
