Light Signal Construction

Build this Traffic Light and learn how electronic circuits control the markings.

HOW IT WORKS:
Traffic light bulbs work using an intelligent digital electronic system. In digital electronic systems there are only two kinds of signals, on and off. In manual mode, each time the button is pressed, an enable signal is passed to a counter circuit that counts in 2-bit binary numbers (0 and 1) from zero to three. This meter is connected to the lamps. Zero sends a signal to the red LED, one sends a signal to the yellow, two to the green and three again to the orange LED. When you press the button again, the counter resets to zero. In automatic mode, a separate timing circuit sends a signal to the measurement circuit every two seconds, which causes the lamps to switch automatically.
