Description

Texts of Modern Greek Literature C Lyceum C Issue

In the Texts of Modern Greek Literature of the 3rd Lyceum, the works of the so-called post-war poets and the younger writers are studied. The post-war poets appear in the first years of the Occupation and are divided into two generations. The first generation includes those who came of age from 1918 to 1928, while the second generation includes those who published their first poetry collection in the decade 1955-1965. The two generations of post-war poets show significant differences between them, which are mainly focused on the relationship these generations have with the historical condition during which they live. The book also contains prose writings belonging to the post-war period (1945-1974). The post-war prose writers have a common point of reference in the critical decade of the 1940s and the years after the end of the Occupation and the Civil War. Post-war prose writers share a common consciousness of being different from their predecessors, while post-war poets find in their predecessors the tools to talk about what concerns them. Post-war literature as a whole attempts to outline the difficult years after the end of the Second World War and the rapid political and social developments after the end of the war. The essays included in the book examine the conditions of literary production and how reality affects not only literary production but also its reception by the reading public. At the same time, milestone works of foreign literature are studied, which demonstrate not only the diverse trends of global literary production but also the inextricable connection between historical reality and literary creation. In particular, the presentation of the texts is based on the following literary genres of Post-war and modern literature: – Poetry – Prose – Essay – Foreign literature.
