Grammos and the Mastorochoria of Konitsa

The war events of a decade (only), especially the drama of Grammos in 1949, but also the legend of Pindos in 1940, are deeply rooted in memory, well known. But those that remain are the peaceful actions of centuries of the people of these same places of Grammos. Period of offering, works and offering to the Balkan culture, which ended just before the beginning of the previously "known" mentioned. Because here in Grammos the following long-term phenomenon appeared, as we said: The craftsman villages of Konitsa are a link in a chain of builders' villages in Northern Pindos, around the wider mountainous mass of Grammos. It is noted that in the highlands of Grammos, the pastoral element of the rich Vlach tseligads, whose capital was Grammosta (today Grammos), dominated, while below and around on its slopes were artisan villages, the oldest of which reached the outskirts of Byzantium.
