The book will help the student to explore modern Biology to become a biologically informed and aware of Biology related citizen regardless of the career he or she decides to pursue. The book consists of twelve chapters. Chapters 1 to 6 analyze the structure and basic functions of genetic material at the molecular level, as well as the defects that create problems in its function and lead to diseases. The methodology of recombinant DNA, which was the precondition for the development of Biotechnology, is also being developed. Chapters 7 to 11 present the basic principles of Biotechnology, as well as its applications in medicine, agriculture and animal husbandry, industry and environmental protection. In the last chapter, concerns are expressed regarding the applications of Biotechnology.
