Mathematics B Lyceum

The book consists of five chapters.

– The first chapter, is an introduction to Vector Calculus and Analytic Geometry. Vectors are of special importance not only for Mathematics but also for many other sciences, since they offer the possibility of mathematizing quantities, which are not defined only by their numerical value. Besides, the ambiguous correspondence of a point of the plane with an ordered pair of real numbers leads to the "algebrization" of Geometry, i.e. the study of geometric shapes by algebraic methods.
– In the second chapter, after the definition of the equation of a line is given, the properties of the straight line are studied.
– In the third chapter, the subject of Analytical Geometry continues with the study of conic sections, which were first studied by the Ancient Greeks. Today the interest in conic sections is increased due to the large number of their theoretical and practical applications.
– The fourth chapter is an introduction to Number Theory, in the development of which the contribution of the Ancient Greeks is great. The main objective of teaching this unit is to train the students in the proof process.
– In the fifth, finally, the chapter introduces calculus with complex numbers, which form the basis for Mathematical Analysis and at the same time have many practical applications in other sciences.
